My name is Bartek Karas. I have been creating graphic and photographic images for years. As a child in Poland, I began to draw at home, inspired by my parents. In school I experimented with creating art with whatever materials were available. My artistic abilities have always come naturally, but, much like my parents, it has always been just a hobby. Around the end of the last century I discovered Photoshop, which transformed the way I communicate feelings and emotions through graphic imaging. Connected to Chicago's underground music scene as a musician and producer, I continue to build a body of work for acclaimed artists and events. My designs are used for cover art, fliers, promotional materials, logos and banners for internationally known DJs, producers, record labels and promoters including Konkrete Jungle Chicago, 60Hz, The Seminar (Bass By The Pound) and Dubfront Records. My visual work has also been used for campaigns to raise awareness about abandoned cars in Maui, HI and for promotional materials for Chicago realtors.
A road trip across the United States burgeoned my love for photography. In 1989, I got in a car with my sister, a friend, a road atlas and no place to be. The American landscape demanded my appreciation for the medium - which was all film back then. I've slowly enhanced and adapted my equipment and photographic eye, and a meticulous study of digital manipulation has opened the world of endless opportunities for photo and graphic design. Alongside music, graphic design and photography is an outlet for my creativity and personal growth. I use my skills to help my clients deliver their message to their audience. I listen, work, and rework until the design finds it's way into the hearts of my clients and their mission.
